Sam Houston: A Texas Icon

Humanities Texas
Project Overview
Humanities Texas: "Sam Houston remains a larger-than-life figure in Texas and American history with a career that spanned the Texas Revolution, the Republic of Texas, annexation and early statehood, and the state's secession from the Union in 1861. Sam Houston: Texas Icon traces the life and career of Houston from his boyhood in Virginia and Tennessee through his retirement and eventual passing in Huntsville, Texas."

"Sam Houston: Texas Icon features sixteen panels with engaging text and dynamic works of art, photographs, and historical documents."

This exhibition is organized by Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and is designed to travel to community sites across Texas.
